Palisades

After nearly 8 years of being together, Steve and I agree on most things and can definitely finish each other's sentences, but that doesn't mean we're morphing into the same person.  A perfect case in point is when it comes to doing any kind of trip taking.  It's not that I don't like to go places and see new things, it just sounds like a whole lot of work and why put myself out when I'm perfectly happy at home.  Yes I'm a home-body married to someone who loves to get out and have a good time.  I'm a good sport though and try not to hold up his recreating, but we are 3 for 3 since March when it comes to having sick kids on our trips!  The end of May we decided to go to Palisades with our friends for a weekend camping trip, and of course it would follow that the night before we were leaving Jack spiked a 104 degree temperature.  Steve assures me I'm the queen of under reacting when it comes to sick kids, but this fever had me a little nervous.  It didn't break for a good 12 hours even with around the clock tylenol and motrin.  Friday morning he woke up just like his old self so we decided it was a fluke and packed up to hit the lake.  Long story short his fever came back that night and he wouldn't eat or drink since his throat hurt.  I falsly diagnosed him with strep but it turned out to be hand, foot, and mouth.  We haven't had that bug at our house before and it is not welcome back anytime soon.  It's a bad one!  Jack was a trooper and still had a great time camping.  He's a little tuffy.  We lucked out in the fact that no one else got sick!  So all in all it was a great weekend filled with fishing, relaxing, chatting, and for the boys, golfing.  Jack caught his first fish with his daddy's help which he calls a "flippin' fish".  He did not want to touch it and did not cave to peer pressure and kiss it.  His favorite part of camping though was the marshmallow.  He talked about cooking a marshmallow on the fire for days before and it did not disappoint.
We rented a little trailer to take camping since May is a little cold for a tiny baby and loved camping without roughing it too much.
